How Skipping Our Free Security Training Could Cost You

How Skipping Our Free Security Training Could Cost You

By Brent Morris,
Vice President of Business Development, SUCCESS Computer Consulting

They always say there’s no such thing as a free lunch, and to some degree, that’s true—but would you turn up your nose at free network security training?

To put a finer point on it: can you afford to have your employees’ lack of security acumen cost your business dearly when it results in expensive, preventable mistakes and lost productivity?

SUCCESS Computer Consulting provides regular security training free-of-charge for our clients (including you, prospective clients!) and their employees, in an effort to reduce the potential for a costly mishap. While there’s certainly no silver bullet when it comes to protecting your network, most experts agree that taking some time to educate your staff on existing risks is one of the best preventative measures you can implement. All it takes is one misplaced click to muck up an entire network, so we really can’t overstate the value of getting your entire team together for a primer on basic computing security.

And with us, it costs you nothing.

We’ve been doing this long enough to know that even the smartest and tech-savviest of us need some refreshers from time to time, which is why this is not a one-and-done offer. We know that companies grow, have turnover, or everyone just plain forgets some of the details. Plus, things change really fast in technology. The organizations building this type of training into a bi-annual staff meeting are the ones with the fewest technology issues.

Here’s Why:

Employees are more aware of what ‘bad’ looks like, and are less likely to get tricked
Your staff will become better stewards of your technology
They create better passwords and they’re more open to what we’re asking them to do, because they understand the end-game and the potential impact.
It helps them personally AND professionally
Learning how to better protect intellectual property is easier when it becomes a habit at work as well as home.
Proactive approach
When issues do come up, they’re more proactive in reporting them.
We recently received a message from one of our clients about the continual positive impact this training has on their network’s security:

“I wanted to just say a big thank you to you for the training you gave to us about email phishing and cyber security last fall. On average, I get an email from someone every couple days asking if an email is legit or a phishing attempt, and we take every one very seriously to make sure that it’s good or not.

So far this week, we’ve had our CEO (who is in China on business) email our controller asking that $42,000 be sent to him as well as a vendor sending over an invoice to a bunch of people.  Both attempts were thwarted in large part due to your training!

And on the flip side, I’ve had a few people get tricked and click those links and then when things aren’t what they expect, they let me know asap so I can look into it rather than trying to hide it. It’s really made my life a lot easier and I really appreciate it!!!”

If this sounds like an opportunity that you can’t afford to miss, schedule your free security training with SUCCESS today!
